Dorm Life

TAIS offers comprehensive boarding facilities, dedicated to creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive living and learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds. To cater to the specific needs of male and female students, the campus features separate dormitories for boys and girls, staffed by professional, caring, and patient residential counselors who live on-site to provide 24-hour care and assistance. This arrangement not only ensures that students' daily and emotional needs are promptly addressed but also offers parents peace of mind, knowing their children are well-cared for and properly guided throughout their time at the school.

Each dormitory room accommodates four students and is spacious and well-lit, featuring air conditioning, electric fans, and comprehensive living and study furnishings. This includes individual modular bed units (not bunk beds), wardrobes, desks and chairs, desk lamps, and shoe cabinets. Additional amenities include a dedicated late-night study room with controlled high-speed internet access, as well as facilities such as shower rooms, restrooms, water dispensers, refrigerators, laundry sinks, spin dryers, coin-operated washers and dryers, and both open-air and covered drying areas.

The design of the dormitory living environment prioritizes student comfort and academic efficiency, providing a space where students can relax and focus on their studies after class. Each dormitory building features communal areas, such as lounges, reading zones, conversation rooms (in female dorms), and table tennis areas (in male dorms), designed to facilitate interaction and group activities, thereby fostering peer friendships and a spirit of cooperation.

Nantou Adventist Academy employs a rigorous and structured approach to managing students' internet and mobile phone usage. Internet access provided in the dormitories is strictly for academic purposes, and students must obtain approval from their subject teachers to access Wi-Fi or the network. Before bedtime each day, students are required to hand over their mobile phones and laptops to the dormitory counselor's office for safekeeping, retrieving them the following morning. This policy aims to help students cultivate good time management and self-discipline, prevent internet addiction or excessive use of electronic devices from interfering with their studies and daily routines, and foster a focused, positive learning environment. Additionally, dormitory counselors regularly organize gatherings and personal growth activities covering topics such as interpersonal relationships, self-management, and stress coping to help students learn responsibility and independence through daily life and to enhance their social-emotional skills.

A good living environment is not only an extension of academic learning, but also an important space for cultivating students' character, self-discipline, and independent living skills, preparing them in advance for the life skills required for the next stage of further education and internationalization.
