Taiwan Adventist International School (TAIS) is a boarding and day school for students in Grades 7–12, located in the beautiful mountains of Nantou County near Sun Moon Lake. Designed around an international school experience and built on a U.S.-based curriculum, TAIS combines the strengths of experimental education with a caring, multicultural learning environment. Students may choose either boarding or day-school enrollment, allowing families to find an educational experience that best fits their needs. At TAIS, our mission is to help students develop wisdom, live healthy and balanced lives, care for others, and grow in their relationship with God. We believe education is about more than academic achievement and critical thinking. Through a holistic approach to education, we nurture students intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make a meaningful difference in the world. We encourage students to make service a guiding principle in life—to recognize the needs of others, contribute positively to their families and communities, and develop genuine compassion and empathy. We also encourage students to place their trust in God, build strong character, and become people others can depend on. Our goal is to prepare students to become well-rounded global citizens who are intellectually capable, physically and emotionally healthy, spiritually grounded, compassionate toward others, and ready to serve their communities and the world.

Taiwan Experimental Education Accreditation Taiwan Adventist International School (TAIS) is also officially approved by the Ministry of Education and the Nantou County Government as a non-school-based experimental education institution. At TAIS, “experimental education” represents an innovative approach to teaching and learning that goes beyond traditional classroom instruction. Through hands-on experiences, real-world learning, and career exploration, students have opportunities to develop the skills and competencies needed to thrive in different fields and pursue their individual interests. Learning at TAIS goes beyond the transfer of knowledge from textbooks. We place strong emphasis on each student’s active participation in the learning process, encouraging them to explore, create, and apply what they learn through meaningful experiences. By moving beyond traditional educational boundaries, students broaden their perspectives, deepen their understanding, and develop the knowledge, skills, and wisdom needed to navigate an ever-changing world.

Adventist Schools in Taiwan Taiwan Adventist International School (TAIS) is the only American-style boarding junior and senior high school established by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Taiwan. TAIS has no branch campuses. The Seventh-day Adventist Church operates the following schools in Taiwan serving students from elementary through high school: TAAS – Taiwan Adventist American School An American-style elementary school located in Yangmingshan, Taipei. TAAS provides an American curriculum and requires students to hold a second passport for enrollment. TAIS – Taiwan Adventist International School An American-style junior and senior high school located in Nantou. Classes are conducted entirely in English and follow a U.S.-based curriculum. Students are not required to hold a second passport to enroll. TAA – Taiwan Adventist Academy A junior and senior high school located in Nantou. Classes are conducted entirely in Chinese and follow the curriculum standards established by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education.
Taiwan Adventist International School (TAIS) shares the same campus as Taiwan Adventist Academy (TAA), located within the Taiwan Adventist College campus, which covers approximately 52 hectares. Although the two institutions share the same campus, they operate as two independent educational institutions, each with its own administration, academic programs, faculty, staff, student management system, and facilities. TAIS and TAA do not share teaching staff. Each institution has its own academic buildings, dormitories, faculty, and staff. Shared campus facilities, including the gymnasium, athletic fields, and arts and cultural center are scheduled separately to ensure that the facilities are used by each school at different times. Student supervision and management are also handled independently by each institution, with separate systems and procedures. TAIS is an independent and legally recognized experimental education institution. It is not the “International Division” of Taiwan Adventist Academy (TAA). The two institutions are separate educational entities with independent administration, instruction, faculty, student management, and operations.
